I’ve been on a collectible glasses kick lately and, during an eBay search, I happened upon this sweet Pac-Man glass from 1980.
After doing a little digging, I found that you could buy this glass for 59 or 65 cents (probably depending upon the region) with any purchase at Arby’s.
This TV commercial for the glass is pretty amazing…
While this glass isn’t as tall as other collectible glasses from the era – here it is next to an Alvin & the Chipmunks glass from 1985 – this thing is freaking solid.
The base is much heavier than the Chipmunks glass and the actual thickness of the glass itself is a lot bigger, too. This thing would hold up pretty well in the dishwasher.
Apparently collectible Pac-Man glasses were quite a little industry back in the day. Here are some other examples I’ve found on eBay…
I can’t say I necessarily need to own all of these, but if I came across them at an antique mall and the price was right, I’d happily add them to my collection.
